What is Cuts Watch?
National Campaigns
Click on the link for a list of some of the main national campaigns against cuts to different services. It isn’t a comprehensive list – if you know of other campaigns please email us on warwickandleamingtonclp@gmail.com.
We will be following up on specific campaigns in future.
The public spending cuts introduced by the Coalition Government are already hitting people and communities across the country with job losses, cuts to benefits and cuts to public services. The cuts are disproportionately hitting the poorest and most vulnerable members of society – children and young people, disabled people, pensioners and lone parents are being particularly badly affected
We are working hard locally to show that there is a fairer way to address the needs of our local community, and of our country. With significant cuts to county, district and town council budgets, we accept that there will be cuts to services. But the priorities have to be right.
Cuts Watch will fight for the retention of vital council services in the Warwick & Leamington District that our crucial for the local community. Already we have fought hard to 'Save Warwick Fire Station' and to 'Save Warwickshire Youth Services'.
Current Campaigns
We are currently reviewing current proposed cuts to local services. In particular, we are looking at the proposed cuts to our local libraries. Further details will be posted shortly.
You can be assured that should the Tory County or District Council propose any unjustified cuts to our vital services, we will be by your side.
If you are affected by any cuts to local services, please contact us on WarwickandLeamingtonCLP@gmail.com or contact your local councillor (details within the Local Councillors' page).
