Lillington Bus Service

As part of the package of cuts agreed by Tory-dominated Warwickshire County Council, it is was proposed that evening services between Lillington and Leamington would end in July 2011. These cuts, forced on the Council by the decisions made by the Tory/Lib Dem Government in London, follow a reduction in 45% of the subsidy the Council pays to bus operators.

The Lillington Labour team campaigned hard on this issue and collected over 350 signatures on a petition. The campaign was partially successful in that Stagecoach agreed to fund the 68 service on Friday and Saturday evenings for a 6 month trial but Monday-Thursday evening services ceased on 2 July 2011.
