Health Inequalities across Warwickshire to be Investigated

Action to tackle healthy inequality in Warwickshire been given a major boost after successful lobbying by Leader of the Labour County Group, Councillor Helen Adkins. A successful motion has set up a cross party Task and Finish group, to identify active targets and policy to level up health inequalities in the County, specifically focusing on the North of the county.

Recent County reports have acknowledged the large health inequalities in areas of Warwickshire, specifically in the North of the County, highlighted and exacerbated by the current Corona Virus pandemic.

Labour County Councillors such as Helen Adkins have long been supporters of local community groups such as Keep Our NHS Public (KONP), who campaign on health issues.

Councillor Helen Adkins, Leader of the Labour Group, said “This action is an absolute necessity in the time of COVID-19. The  public recognise the deep health inequalities have been highlighted by the pandemic and this action will deliver real action to combat health inequality.

However, those inequalities are long standing and serious questions need answering about how we eradicate these inequalities. I welcome the chance to forge a cross party consensus on dealing with this.”
