Good news on recycling, as Warwick District council will be providing free additional red recycling boxes to residents who can’t use the larger wheelie bins from Warwick District Council in the next few weeks.

Labour Councillors in Warwick District have been very aware of the problems facing residents in flats or terraced houses, who don’t have space for large wheelie bins and can no longer use the large white bags for recycling, only their old red boxes.

Clarendon Councillor Colin Quinney commented: ” We are very pleased to see this small but important measure now happening. Mainly because it will help our residents, especially people like pensioners and students who are struggling to afford heating and food bills.  But also to keep our streets tidier and recycle as much as possible including the boxes themselves!

“Do pass on the good news to anyone you know who might benefit from this offer and who can help spread the word. It may not remain open for long.”

These residents will now be able to get another red box for recycling without a charge, and WDC will start to publicise the new approach from this week.

It is expected that there will be plenty of red boxes available as residents with the new wheelie bins no longer need them.  If you have a box you no longer need – please email contract.services@warwickdc.gov.uk to arrange a collection in early November.

From early this week the Council website will set out the offer on their website.

Free red boxes – some new, some recycled from other residents – will then be available to all who need them, after filling in a simple form.
