Councillor Jackie D’Arcy has asked town councillors to respond to Warwickshire Fire Service Consultation and encourage residents in Warwick to take part to make sure the town’s needs are part of the Fire Services’ future plans.

Warwick used to have a fire station which closed in August 2011 after a local campaign to stop its closure failed.

Cllr D’Arcy commented:

“Warwick used to have a fire station and when it was closed, the plan was to provide cover for Warwick and Leamington from a new ‘out of town’ station, but that was never built so cover has been provided from Leamington town fire station.

“With traffic across Warwick and Leamington much worse than it was even in 2011, because of new development, it concerns me that Warwick’s needs are not being considered. I worry how long it will take for a fire engine to get here in peak traffic and want to be sure Warwick residents are safe.

“Our Warwick town councillors have agreed to respond to the consultation and share with residents.  We all need to make sure Warwick’s needs get taken into account as the fire service plans resources for the county.”

The purpose of the consultation is to influence the way the Service will work over the next five years.

Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service has 17 first stations across Warwickshire and in 2020/2021 attended around 3,500 incidents.
